The congregation of Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church is pleased to announce the selection of Reverend Karl E. Schwarz as their new solo pastor. We are filled with gratitude and love for Pastor Karl for his leadership and pastoral support over the last 2 years in his role as our interim Pastor. We have been fortunate to experience his strong faith, spirit, teaching, preaching and compassion during this time of pandemic and its many challenges. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with Pastor Karl as we continue to share the good news of God’s love in North Dallas and the surrounding community! Go to bentwoodtrail.org to learn more about Karl and his ministry.

This Sunday, we welcome Rev. Dr. Brent Hampton
Rev. Dr. Brent Hampton (Brent) is a second career pastor, having worked in the financial services industries for eighteen or so years before answering the call to the ministry of Word and Sacrament, due in no small part to his work and worship at First Presbyterian Church, Dallas. Indeed, Pastor Karl’s mother, Norma, played no small part in that, as she was the Elder who shepherded Brent to his first inquirers’ group after he had attended worship there for several months. Prior to attending Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, where he was one of Karl’s classmates, Brent served at FPC-Dallas as a member of the Session, Sunday School teacher, youth sponsor, and more. He heard his call to ministry largely through the community of the church. He has since served four congregations, and while semi-retired, still does pulpit supply.

Brent is married to Rev. Kristin Galle, who is currently senior pastor at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Denton. The two met at Austin Seminary and together they have three daughters, the youngest of which is also an ordained Disciples of Christ pastor, serving in Fort Worth.
In their spare time, Brent and Kristin enjoy chasing after their three grandchildren and are avid players of the card game Magic: The Gathering.
