Maundy Thursday Worship Service
Thursday, April 18th, 7:30 PM
Also called Holy Thursday, Maundy Thursday is the Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the foot washing and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles, as described in the canonical gospels. It is the fifth day of Holy Week, preceded by Holy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday.
Good Friday Service

Tenebrae Worship Service
Tenebrae is a Latin term meaning darkness. The service will gradually extinguish the lights in the sanctuary and allows us to reflect on the emotional and physical pain felt by Jesus on Good Friday.
Please invite your friends and neighbors to join us for a musical Tenebrae service on Good Friday, April 19, 2019 at 7:30 pm in the sanctuary of Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church. The Tenebrae service (a service of darkness) based on the music of Hal Hopson, will be led by the adult choir with string quartet, oboe, and organ accompaniment. The congregation will participate in meaningful litanies and prayers as well as hymn singing with orchestral accompaniment. The sanctuary will gradually grow darker as the sanctuary is stripped of paraments and symbols of faith. With each scriptural reading we are led further into the shadows until we are left in darkness and silence. Through the music, readings, and darkness we will be plunged into the reality of the death of Jesus on the cross. Be sure not to miss this very contemplative service of introspection and preparation for the Easter to come.
