A Dream Come True – A New Pipe Organ
We are blessed by the installation of a wonderful pipe organ in our sanctuary at Bentwood Trail which was dedicated on Reformation Sunday, October 31, 2004, Soli Deo Gloria – To God Alone Be the Glory
When the church structure on Bentwood Trail was constructed in 1985, a new pipe organ was anticipated and the sanctuary designed to accommodate one. The small Wicks organ which had served at our Churchill Way location was carefully moved to the new location. While functional, the instrument was limited in range and lacked the ability to produce the volume of sound required. It looked somewhat out of place in our otherwise beautiful new house of worship at Bentwood Trail.
In 2001, the congregation authorized a Capital Fund campaign to provide funds for the purchase and installation of a Pipe Organ for Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church. Garland Pipe Organs Inc. of Fort Worth was selected as the vendor.
The Wicks organ was removed from the sanctuary in June of 2003 and gifted to the First Presbyterian Church of Gatesville, Texas. Preparation of the sanctuary began immediately and installation commenced on March 1, 2004. Completed in August 2004, the installation is an organ having a four manual console and forty-four ranks of pipes, making it an outstanding instrument for a structure the size of Bentwood Trail.
The organ was formally dedicated, Soli Deo Gloria, on Reformation Sunday, October 31, 2004. We have enjoyed raising our voices to the Lord with loving accompaniment since that date.
Since the installation, the instrument has served beyond worship. We have been thrilled by several organ recitals performed by gifted organists featuring both worship and classical music.
Here is a brochure from the Organ Recital, Commemorating the Fifth Anniversary of the Dedication of the Garland Pipe Organ on Sunday, November 15, 2009. The brochure includes the Pipe Organ Specifications.
