Mission Trip - Project Homecoming
What is Project Homecoming, New Orleans?
  • We help families whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Katrina.  Additionally, we work with families who are hoping to become homeowners by building brand new homes on previously abandoned or blighted properties.  Finally, we work with neighborhoods to leverage our construction ability to improve community space.
  • 1 in 5 homes in New Orleans is still blighted, 8 years after Katrina. A few years ago New Orleans had the highest rate of blight (abandoned) homes in the country, but due to the dedication and hard work of countless individuals, this is no longer true. However, there is still a ton of work to do, and with your help, we can continue to make this city great.
  • We have grown as an organization tremendously over the past several years and could not have done it without the support of our volunteers as well as Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) and the Presbytery of South Louisiana (PSL).
15 members of Bentwood Trail volunteered for one week with Project Homecoming to work together to make a big difference for a family in need!
